AMEC provides consultancy, engineering and project management services through its three divisions: Natural Resources (2010: 53% of revenues), Power & Process (26%) and Earth & Environmental (19%). It has world leading positions in all the business areas in which it operates. AMEC is extending its service offerings, with new areas of focus including subsea engineering, underground mining, renewable energy and water. It generates over 57% of revenue from North America. AMEC’s acquisition trail of five in 2009 and four in 2010 continues to expand its geographical reach. Management expects to achieve an EBITA margin in line with 2010 i.e. 9%. The sectors in which AMEC operates are all projected to grow over the long term, with the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasting a 46% increase in primary energy demand from 2008-2035, with the contribution from renewables to global power generation set to increase from 19% in 2009 to 24% in 2020. Drivers for the Earth & Environmental division include increasing environmental legislation and a focus on corporate social responsibility.
