Swedbank is a Swedish bank with Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as home markets. In Sweden Swedbank has market shares of 25% on household lending and ca. 18% on corporate lending in 2010. Traditionally, Swedbank has been very strong in the middle and lower income segments. In addition Swedbank has Robur, a market leading retail mutual fund operation, with 25% of the Swedish market. Market shares for banking in the Baltic countries vary from 25-50%, i.e. Swedbank is the market leader in the region. The bank has during 2009 taken SEK 25bn in impairment losses in the Baltic, Ukraine and Russian markets. Swedbank has performed two equity rights issuances during 2008-2009 totaling SEK 27bn. The new equity injections from shareholders along with decreasing Risk Weighted Assets has put Swedbank among the highest ranking banks in Northern Europe in terms of Solvency ratio at 18%. Swedbanks operation rebounded in 2010, but credit growth is still negative.
