Hydro is focusing on aluminium production. Moreover, Hydro is producer of hydropower in Norway, which is used to supply the metal plants. The global aluminium business is dominated by 5-7 large players and competition is fierce. Hydro has among the lowest energy cost among its peers due to supply of cheap hydropower in Norway and gas fired energy in Qatar where Hydro is ramping-up a new aluminium smelter. Globally, the largest customers are within the transportation and construction segments. The aluminium business is dependent on the general global economy.
