Winner of the "Best of European Business Award" for Cross-boarder Mergers & Acquisitions
4th Annual Best of European Business Competition
La Garenne-Colombes, France - February 12th 2008
The 2008 "Best of European Business Award" has been announced with Avanquest Software winning top prize in the category of "Cross-boarder Mergers & Acquisitions". The jury made the selection in recognition of the company´s successful growth, in just a few years, from a French mid-sized business to a leading international corporation and a top software publisher worldwide.
The prize was presented to Mr. Bruno Vanryb, President & CEO of Avanquest Software, by Mr. Valéry Giscard d´Estaing, former President of the European Convention, at the 4th annual "Best of European Business Awards" ceremony, which was held on February 11th at the Quai Branly museum in Paris.
The "Best of European Business Award" was created in 2004 by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, the French business magazine Enjeux-Les Echos, and HEC business school in order to promote European enterprise business models and to recognize the winning strategies of these companies. The best-performing companies are judged in three criteria: growth, European strategy, and mergers and acquisitions.
"We awarded this prize to Avanquest in recognition of its acquisition of Nova Development" said Vincent Mercier, General Manager of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and part of the jury along with Arnaud Lagardère, General Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Lagardère group, François Lenglet, Chief Editor of Enjeux-Les Echos, Bernard Ramanantsoa, General Manager of HEC, and Michel Bon. "We appreciated the acquisition of an American competitor in a sector traditionally dominated by the United States. Furthermore, we found it remarkable that Avanquest, a European player, succeeded in making it into the "Top 6" consumer software publishers in Europe and the U.S. just behind Microsoft, Symantec, Adobe, Inuit and Apple."
With its recent mergers and acquisitions, Avanquest Software has reached a key corporate objective in increasing the group´s sales scope and product depth, thanks largely to the highly complementary acquisitions of Nova Development in the U.S. and Emme in Europe, in January and April 2007 respectively, an M&A strategy which nearly doubled the company´s size.
"We are pleased and honored to receive the ´Best of European Business Award´ in the Cross-boarder M&A category" said Bruno Vanryb, President & CEO of Avanquest Software. "This prize is a meaningful recognition and appreciation of our recent external growth strategy and Avanquest Software is poised for further growth and successfully moving ahead into the future. In 20 years, we have grown from just two employees - Roger Politis and myself - to a team of more than 650 worldwide. We have a strong sales presence on three continents and an unrivalled product catalog. And we are confident that Avanquest will pursue its profitable growth strategy for the years to come".
Avanquest Software is one of the world´s leading software publishers, marketing up to 1,500 software titles developed in-house or by developer partners via multiple sales channels on three continents - North America, Europe and Asia.
