The Federal Aviation Administration has granted an experimental launch permit to Virgin Galactic for its spacecraft SpaceShipTwo and carrier aircraft WhiteKnightTwo, the fledgling passenger spaceline said Thursday. Virgin said the permit will allow the company to conduct rocket-powered, supersonic test flights with its sub-orbital spacecraft SpaceShip Two. Virgin Galactic, a unit of Virgin Group, is developing the vehicles with Northrop Grumman Corp.'s (NOC) Scaled Composites LLC.
