Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) will, over the next four months, phase out four surgical mesh products used to treat pelvic collapse in women, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.
The Food and Drug Administration has ordered new studies of the products as it has received hundreds of reports of complications related to the implants, according to earlier reports.
Pelvic-mesh products products, also made by companies including Boston Scientific Corp. (BSX) and C.R. Bard Inc. (BCR), are also at the center of lawsuits in New Jersey and West Virginia.
