Får Equinors pengemaskine nyt liv?

Olie- og gasgiganten Equinor, det tidligere Statoil, arbejder angiveligt med planer om at forlænge levetiden for en af dets olieplatforme.

Det var ellers meningen, at boreplatformen Statfjord A skulle lukkes i 2022, mens platformene Statfjord B og C skulle følge efter i 2025.

Men nu mener Stavanger Aftenblad at vide, at olieselskabet ser på muligheden for at forlænge Statfjord A samt selve oliefeltet.

Selskabets talsmand. Morten Eek afviser, at 'kommentere spekulationer om levetiden for A-platformen, eller andre felter, som der endnu ikke er truffet nogen beslutning om'.

Equinor skiftede navn fra Statoil for at lægge distance til selskabets vægt på olie.

Navnet Equinor forklares med, at 'equi' er i ord som equal (lige), equality (lighed) samt equilibrium (ligevægt).

'Nor' refererer derimod til selsskabets rødder i Norge
